What is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an injectable liquid substance full of growth factors that can increase healing in various ways throughout your body. That’s because those growth factors already exist in your body to help with healing.

Whenever you get PRP treatments of any kind, the PRP used in the procedure is derived from your own blood. Dr. Hardie collects a small sample of your blood before your treatment. To process it into PRP, she places it in a centrifuge to spin for 10-15 minutes. The centrifugal force removes the red and white blood cells leaving only platelets and plasma.

How do PRP treatments work?

When injected or microneedled into your tissues, PRP stimulates natural healing. The platelets from your blood release growth factors, which facilitate healing in targeted tissues and cells. PRP injections can also increase circulation to injured or damaged tissues, which speeds up the repair process.

Some PRP treatments involve microneedling. Even without the added PRP, microneedling increases the growth of collagen inside your skin and tissues to make them firmer and stronger. PRP enhances these results by increasing tissue healing.

What are my PRP treatment options?

At Elate Aesthetics, Pain and Wellness, Dr. Hardie uses PRP for multiple purposes. She answers your questions during a consultation and determines if you’re a good candidate for PRP treatments.

Your options include:

PRP facial

The PRP facial is a microneedling treatment that infuses PRP into deep and superficial skin layers. This facial reduces scars and other blemishes while tightening and strengthening your skin.

PRP facelift

PRP Facelift uses PRP in conjunction with fillers to improve tightening of skin and volumizing the soft tissues of the face.

PRP hair restoration

PRP for the scalp can stimulate your natural hair growth by repairing damaged and dormant follicles and increasing scalp circulation.

PRP joint injections

PRP joint injections are a natural alternative to steroid injections and other pharmaceutical treatments. They can reduce pain and dysfunction from arthritis, tendon injuries, and other causes of joint pain.
